Dionysus Pedestal Clock (#135)
Dionysus, also called Bacchus, in Greek and Roman Mythology, was the God of Wine and of Orgiastic Religion celebrating the power and Fertility of nature. He invented the art of wine making and spread the art of tending grapes. He was followed by an entourage of satyrs, nymphs, and many dancing drunken worshipers and beautiful wild women. He is often pictured wearing a wreath of vines. This was supposed to prevent headaches from drinking too much wine, and is also said to be the origin of kings & queens wearing a crown. He sits atop a Malachite & Gilt Bronze Pedestal with a clock encased in it. There are female Satyrs at his feet toasting to him. A magnificent addition to any true wine connoisseurs collection. A truly unique and one of a kind work of art. 72″H x 26″W x12″D (#135)
